SCHOOL BUILDING PROGRESS REPORT. 13 May 2014:

It is exactly 12 months since the first sod on the new school grounds at Global Leadership Academy, a stone's throw from Fountains Mall was moved. The building project is progressing well with twelve of the 25 classrooms reaching roof level, the others reaching window sill height.

The second "Canadian Butt and Pass Log home" in South Africa is already almost complete as wooden floors are currently being fitted. This unique log home – of which ten are planned - will be used as student accommodation where 8 students with 2 teachers will reside.  “The detached houses attempt to break away from the traditional hostel feeling, rather a safe home environment in which children live and learn as a "family", said Anna - Marie Franken, co-founder of Global Leadership Academy.

To date, the construction has largely continued through the kindness and cooperation of local businesses and individuals. Such as Langkloof Bricks - all the bricks for the first phase of development was their gift. Vincent of Caltex Wavelands has donated cement, Charlie of Chartel Construction donated and constructed the roof of the wooden house and so the list goes on and on. We really can not thank you enough for the support of the local community.

For the school to move from their current premises in Equinox Mall in 2015, there is still a lot of work to be done and funds to be brought in. According Marietjie McFarlane, principal of Global Leadership Academy, the new buildings, a modern and eco-friendly learning environment, will compete with the best schools in the country. We will have our own sports fields, kiosk, indoor and outdoor classrooms and specially equipped classrooms for electives as part of Phase 1, which is currently under construction.
