Surfing Team Excels

On the surfing front, students from GLA are really standing tall. Ryan Lightfoot recently won the U14 division of the RUKA contest held at Point – Jeffreys Bay.  This event was one of the big national contests and is a major achievement for Ryan.  Ryan also placed 6th, finishing in the Semi-final in the Billabong event held at Magnas during the Winterfest.  At the recently held SA Surfing Competion Arnold Vermaak came first in the u/16 division, Ryan Lightfoot came first in his division (u/14) with Timothy Shelver in second place. Coert Venter progressed to the semi-finals in the u/18 group. Timothy was also chosen as the most outstanding junior surfer by the Natal team at the awards ceremony. These learners made us extremely proud and we congratulate them.
