GLA hosts first Masked Ball

Grade 11's at the Masked BallThursday 24 February saw the birth of Global Leadership Academy’s first masked ball and what a spectacle it was.   Girls at the Masked Ball

Concentrating on a vintage theme, the hall was decorated in black ribbon and cloth.  White washed wooden tables added to the atmosphere created by the black and white “golden oldies” projected fully on the left-hand side wall.  While finger snacks and a delectable ice cream cake catered for the tummies, a touch of the 21st century was added in the lights and music.  The beautiful photo corner was definitely a hit.  Decorated with old hats and feathered masks, the students could dive into a world of make believe as they posed in a wooden window frame with props of their choice.  The students arrived dressed to the nines and oh, how stunning they looked!

A sudden twist was added to the mix as a mask making competition was announced the day before the event.  Each entry was judged on creativity, effort, how handmade it was and overall presentation.  Masks even the Venetians would be proud to wear streamed in but we could only have one winner.  In the ladies category, Alouise du Preez walked away with the honours and Jeidré Felix shared the men’s prize with Richard Taylor.

GLA wants to thank Seaview Hotel for the beautiful venue they provided.  We also want to thank all the parents of our students as well as our friends at Deo Doxa and Global Challenge Expeditions for helping tie up loose ends.

Although it was a masked ball, the fun was far from hidden!
